FAQs

Why is the temperature 10 degrees warmer in some parts of my home?

This occurs when there is not enough ventilation in your attic. You may need to add more exhaust and sometimes intake.

How do I know if my house has proper ventilation?

This is an important factor to consider when getting a new roof or replacement that can save you money on your energy bill. We have experienced consultants that can inspect the roof ventilation of your home, this is important so that your home doesn’t get too hot in the summer months. We will check the exhaust and intake in your attic

Why does my AC struggle to keep my house cool in the summer months?

The temperature from your attic will radiate through the attic insulation and ductwork not allowing the airflow to blow cold air from your vents.

Hows do insurance companies usually pay out?

Depending on your policy. If you have an ACV policy, they will estimate it by what it costs for a new roof while depreciating it from the age of the roof. If you have an RCV policy, they will pay the full replacement cost of the roof. The RCV is paid out in 2 checks, first the ACV portion minus the deductible, then the RCV (Recoverable Depreciation) plus any other things the insurance may have missed in the original scope of work.

Do I need to be present when they’re working on my house? How long does it take from start to finish?

Homeowners don’t have to be home, so prefer not to due to the noise. Work typically starts between 7-8 a.m. and can last until late afternoon. Most residential jobs are completed in one day

Where will the materials you need for my roofing project be stored? Will you bring everything with you on the day of the project?

We will have the materials delivered to your driveway, or when possible we prefer to have the material placed on the roof one to two days before the start day.

When am I supposed to pay you?

1st payments are due upon contract signing

Do I need to give you a down payment?

The first payment is usually the deductible and your insurance will issue a portion down. The rest is paid out at the completion of the project.

What happens if I don’t have my insurance check yet?

If no funds from your insurance are available by the start date, we can wait to schedule work until 1st portion is paid.

What is your guarantee? Does it include hail damage?

Vanguard Roofing has 5-year workmanship guaranteed. If your roof leaks within that time due to faulty workmanship we will repair it and have any interior damages repaired. Wind and hail damage is not covered by a workmanship warranty, since we do not control the weather

How many people will be working on my project?

Our roofing crews have 8-10 people working the entire job. There will be a crew manager that you can speak to and we will have a project manager if you have any issues or further questions, you can reach out to the office.

Once my project is started, will the crew work until the project is done or is it possible that they may go to another job to work before mine is finished?

Every job is scheduled with a 2-3 day window for completion per crew, we will not leave your project unfinished.

Would I get a refund if you don’t use all the materials you included in my estimate?

We usually order extra material to ensure our crews have enough to finish the project, and all leftover materials are picked up and sent to the warehouse.

What is your clean-up process? I don’t want any nails or debris in my flower beds or lawn.

The materials left over at the end of the job are returned to the warehouse. Materials are over-ordered to ensure enough is on hand for the project. Our crew will have someone on the ground picking up trash all day and performing magnet sweeps. If you find nails after the project is finalized, please contact us so we can come back and do more magnet sweeps.

What happens if it rains or they’re predicting bad weather while you’re in the middle of my project?

We watch the weather very carefully before builds, if we have to reschedule to prevent more loss we will. Sometimes weather pops up randomly, but crews have extra tarps to waterproof your roof in an emergency.
